A few weeks ago, while thinking about NOT getting older, I decided that I would sign up for a "sprint" triathlon. While I was thinking about it, I thought Trevor might be interested and he was! I called and the organizers said that if I thought he could do it, they would let him try but that they haven't had many 9 year olds enter or finish. So we signed up and yesterday we did it! I was so proud of him. We started together and finished together. The whole time I felt like I was racing with a celebrity, everyone, especially the racers, were cheering him on. It was a fantastic experience. I found out after the race that the youngest age category was 0-19, Trevor finished 4th with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes.
A few weeks ago we received a very inspirational email about the Hoyt's - a father who began competing in marathon's and triathlon with his severely handicapped son. Well, we showed up and one of the first people who started talking to us was Mrs. Hoyt. It was great to meet them - what a terrific story. If you would like to read more about them, here's a great video clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flRvsO8m_KI
Mr Hoyt said to Trevor, "So this is your first triathlon? This is our 982nd - by this time next year, we will break 1000!"

I was just going to tell you that I ran the other day for the first time in 5 years, but wow...10K, huh? Oh, and triathlon?
Trevor is the man.

Congratulations Adam (and Trevor). I too have read about the Hoyts before, very cool to get to meet them.
I...can't...believe...you...met... Team...Hoyt! I am their #1 Fan. When Jared ran Boston I saw them and I started screaming and cheering like a British co-ed who saw a "Beatle". They are so inspiring. Congrats to Trevor. He is such a terrific athlete.-Tisse
